WHAT I THE AUDIENCE APPEAL OF THE LIVE LOUNGE
WHY IS IT DIFFERENT TO OTHER RADIO SHOWS

1. the live lounge appeals to the audience and fits to the uses and gratification theory because of the personal identity of the show casers the information they give out is political and important
2 its difficult to other radio shows because other radios shows dont talk about suicide and helping the younger audience
personal identity this is about the show casers and there persnaltilty
information this is politics and current affairs happening
entermaintn its entertains the audience\
social integration can discuss with the audience

how dose the live lounge appeal to the target audience and meet the bbc remit
what could you include?  who the audience are
who are audience?15-29
how is the auiendence? young presenters young language
how is the remit meet? ENTERTAIN using live music from uk artist
what evidence from the show could you use to supporter your answer?

the live lounge appeals to the audience by having big artists music for the younger generation and the presenters talking about stuff for the younger audience an example of this is seen by the bright colours on the bbc radio website and having podcasts popular music like hip hop rap and drill artists music for younger generations 1 this ensures that the live lounge targets hit ages 15-29 year olds the live lounge fits the bbc remit through young artists and young culture  young language and interviews
the live lounge has brings wider audiences because of the artists used to play they will bring in younger rappers and singers cause they will more known and familia to these younger audiences doing this then helps the live lounge by getting more people listing and then boosts the popularity of the rapper it makes young people want to get more involved with stuff like this during there younger years

1 way the radio audiences are active and passive are they are active by doing silly jokes and pranks and podcasts and passive by playing music and keeping you updated on anything

the setting is a school
its a narrative they dress as highschoolers
the nerd wears typical clothes for a nerdy guy
the bully wear leather jackets

Thursday 9th 2023
lo to examine the use of media language in music videos
the setting
the roller skates
the clothes she wore

the genre is shown by the clothes they wear the type of song they sing and there behaviour in the music video
they promote avril by doing the illegal concert and her being the lead singer

avril lavinge and her friends are dressed like skaters and emos
this could suggest to the audience its a punk rock pop rock music
in avril lavinge music video it is set in a big city with lots of people
we know this as we are shown shots of them crammed in a back of a car laughing and them skating through abandoned buildings
in my opinion it was set here because it suited the theme of the song and the way they are dressed

the outfits in teenage dirtbag are cool outfits and the lonely kids is not nice which mates put the main charater  look poor and unfashionable and the girl has a nice dress on

the music videos for avril lavinge sk8ter and wheatus teenage dirtbag use setting and costume to acheive similar effects
sk8ter boi uses clothes to show avrils lavinge look a certain way and they do this in teenage dirtbag
the clothes make the band look punk and rock looking

Thursday 23rd February 2023
lo to explore how camerawork is used to create meaning in music videos
the setting is in like hilly field looking place there isnt really anything other than hills the singer and the sky and these could suggest shes singing about being alone  the camera shot shot is a low sort of angle and has the singer in the middle with  not much background she there by herself.

shot type
angle
movement
dutch
A cinematic tactic achieved by tilting the camera off to the side
focus pull camera dosent move the focus of the lens changes

teenage dirtbag
naturalistic
sk8ter boi
expressionistic

 1 pov angle
used to show the main character
used here because avil lavinge is filming herself in the video close up

2 long shot
used here to show the character alone on a on a table with a lose sticker above his head to describe what hes described as

3 high angle
used here to show the singer on top of a car in the street singing
used because there a crowd around her singing so the shot is used to show the singer and crowd

 4 mid shot
used here because there inside with the bully of the music videos and his mates
used here to show there dominance compared to other people at school

 5 dutch angle
used to show the singer sing really up close
used here because this is the main focus of the scene and wants us to really focus on her singing

the camera movement in teenage dirtbag is expressionistic for example at one point they was all running dowin the stairs and on bikes going down the expressionistic camera work fits the song because they are all running around doing things very fast and the camera work makes it feel like your there with them

identity one source of funding for bbc radio 1
tv licensee

explain one way that radio stations target their audiences use the radio 1 live lounge as an explain in your answer

one way they target there audience is bringing guest on for entertainment and enjoyment
this will attract audiences from different age  groups from all around the country

explain how and why produces of radio programmes target different audiences refer to radio 1 live lounge too surport your answer
produces of radio programmes target different audiences to bring more viewers in to make more money and to give a variety of entertainment to them and them having a wider audience also means companys like the bbc can bring in celebrity guests to play live wich could bring more of a audience as well

bbc radio provides a wider range of content that a commercial radio servral reasons
firstly radio 1 provides
this example is due to the remit and in particular
we can identify this in the live lounge

thursday 9th march 2023
lo to explore how sound and editing are used to create meaning in music videos
dietetic and non diegetic

diegtic sounds are sounds we and the actors or characters can hear
non diegetic only the audience can hear

sounds
sk8ter boi
the spray cans
the helicopter
to add realism to the video

teenage dirtbag
the car hitting his bike

editing

order of shot types[
continuity
transitions
shot duration
pace and rhythm
specical effects

both music videos are linear
sk8ter boi is faster paced and has more cuts this is because the narrative isnt is strong as teenage dirtbag
teenage dirtbag has a longer shot type because the narrative is more difficult to follow compared to skater boy
they both cut to the beat
the pace of the cutting matches the genre to skater boy as in the shoots they are moving fast and doing lots of things in each clip
the scene where the girl walks towards the boy in the prom is in slow motion
to show his object of desire

one way the music videos use music language to differ is the mise en scene. they differ with the props they use spray cans in skater boy and they use the boys bike as prop in teenage dirtbag they also use the boys books as props in teenage dirtbag they use a backpack as a prop in skater boy

men are dominant
women should stay at home and cook and clean
men are sporty
women are like the trophy
men are aggressive

punk rock culture the way they dress and the bmx and skating
teenagers (mischievous rebellious jumping on cars )
urban setting ( in a city looks deprived )
gender (rockstars and punk looking)
ethnicity (predominantly white)
sexuality(straight boy and girl in a relationship

the band (casual dressed punk like)
protagonists (the loser boy and the attractive girl)
ethnicity (predomonily white
high school (younger immature setting)
teenage stereotypes (fitting in being popular attractive)
gender (teens high schoolers casual looking the loser stands out )
sexuality (straight boy girl relationship)

Thursday 30th march 2023
lo to explain the construction of representations in music videos

the sexuality is presented as straight ( boy and a girl in each of the videos)
the teenagers in sb are rebellious and the tb there presented as bullies or nerds
the women are presented as attractive
there both predominately white
the artists are presented as quite casual
the teenagers values are being young and rebellious
the stereotypes are the boys dominate the girls the nerd gets bullied the relationships are boy and girl

thursday 20th april 2023

to explore and practice exam style questions

4 mark question

compare how gender representations are constructed in music videos
refer to two music videos you have studied

the music video represents how females are represented in sk8ter boi avril laving is represented as a punk rockstar looking girl wich isn't stereotypical for how women are stereotypically represented normally she challenges this by being rebellious and doing unfemine things such as a ilegal concert in the street she is wearing baggy clothes and dosent show much skin which also challenges this

in the music video teenage dirtbag the way women are presented surrports this stereotypical view as women being the prize and possessed b the male in the relationship the girl is dressed in femmine clothes such as short skirts crop tops and is made to look attractive she is the shown to be the prize in the video and relationship

10 Mark Question
Explain how stereotypes are used in music videos. Refer to two music videos that you have studied to support your answer.
Music video producers use stereotypes because they are very easy for an audience to recognise and therefore identify characters.
in Sk8ter boi they use the teenage rebel stereotype. we see teenagers doing loads of rebellious acts like : abseiling down sides of buildings graffitiing on walls and setting up a illegal street concert .this shows as a lack of respect for rules and fits the rebel stereotype often associated with teenagers
another stereotype for Sk8ter boi is the way they they present the skaters they present as a like a gang t hey dress and look similar this stereotype matches the theme and genre of the song they are shown to be fast moving rebellious and almost as if there in there own world this stereotype matches the skaters appearance and acts
Music producers use stereyotpes because of there recognition and characters identity.
in Teenage dirtbag they use the attractive girl as the prize these stereotypes are used often in music videos they use a attractive girl as comptetion between certain characters throughout the video we can see this stereotype when she is with the highschool bully in his possession and the nerdy type of guy wants her as well this is a often used and fits the genre of the song
Another stereotype in teenage dirtbag is the highschool bully and the nerd.
This stereotype is often used in american style videos theres a tough good looking bully thats popular and a nerd character that stands out and is always on his own this stereotype is very recognisable  a few examples in the videos are theres loads of students walking up the stairs whilst the nerd is walking down by himself he also sits and eats by himself whilst others bully mock him this stereotype can be seen in teenage dirtbag and is very recognisable.
